Most electronic music loverz probably know about these guys already but their African infused house music is totally new to me. Fascinated by their interesting choice of tracks in the mix below (cause those tracks come in really hard) I started to do some digging…and I have this funny feeling that we really should keep an eye on these guys.
Buraka Som Sistema was founded in 2006 by João Barbosa (Li’l John), Rui Pité (DJ Riot), Andro Carvalho (Conductor) and Kalaf Ângelo. They took their name, Buraka, from the freguesia of Buraca in the city of Amadora, part of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. Som Sistema means Sound System in Portuguese. Their first album The Black Diamond was released in 2008 chock full of the African techno beats that make their signature sound and everything after that is practically history.
